From Lisa

Hello everyone! I am a new member of this bible study. This fits because my life is so busy. I can join in late at night or whenever.

Basic info: Married to Daron, 16 years, 2 children Will, age 9 (almost 10) and Aleah, age 5. I am a substitute teacher and will be certified in the Fall to teach Elementary children. I am open to teaching in public or private school. I will trust God to place me in the right place.

Great experience last year: December 8, the end of my last official class. I was in Social Work but have taken a different direction. Since December 8th, I am finished with a Master's of Education. Now I can relax and concentrate on my children and family instead of my studies.
I will student teach in the Fall in Granbury.

Difficult experience last year: Less work as a substitute so less pay. We have had to cut back on lots of expenses. Hopefully 2011 will be better.

Goals for this year: Balance. I want to concentrate on getting stronger spiritually, emotionally, and physically. 1. Read through the Bible this year. 2. More patience with children. 3. Run a 10K (March). Now I have shared. Keep me accountable.

Something silly: I love to play silly games with my children chasing them and kissing them all over.

Something unusual: I speak Thai (Thailand). I spent two years as a Baptist missionary in Thailand right after college. One day I will return as a short term missionary!

Salvation experience: I attended church in California when my parents were going through a divorce. My family moved to Oklahoma after my parents remarried (each other). I started going to church because my cousins invited me. I loved sunday school and the youth ministry. At a revival, I sat in the balcony of the church. I only remember recognizing my sin and pleading with Jesus to save me! I was saved. The following week I remember cleaning up my room, my house, and picking up the trash in the neighborhood. I think I was responding to how clean I felt inside! I was 13. I have never doubted my salvation.

  2. I am trying to keep a sore knee under control so I can run more. I love to be outside camping, running, and enjoying God's beautiful creation. I have had many wonderful praise and worship times outside in nature. Do you run too, Amy? Are you going to do the Fort Worth Zoo 10 K? or the 10 K in Granbury in March?
